Any compatible computer, tablet, or smartphone has full access to all of the application’s robust recipe design features, calculators/tools, and brewing profiles. Since Brewfather is completely cloud-based, you have easy access to your full account and all of your recipes no matter what device you access it from. These features are the main reason I purchased an annual subscription.

The best part is you can save the data associated with a given batch so you can easily refer back to historical brews. The Tilt integration allows you to view your Tilt fermentation chart from within the Brewfather app-it’s pretty slick and only takes a few minutes to set up. In my eyes, Brewfather has a serious edge in terms of its overall ease of use, 3rd party integrations ( like Tilt), and mobile access from any device. I’ll continue to monitor this as I use the platform more.Īt the end of the day, all brewing software platforms are only as accurate as the information you put in. In my first true pilot batch, my acid calculation was once again very accurate. I came to this conclusion based on how much acid I actually added to my mash from the previous batch compared to the actual measured mash pH. My lactic acid calculation actually favored Brewfather in terms of estimated vs actual (it was dead on). In my side by side recipe, unadjusted mash pH was exactly the same, salt additions were nearly identical (marginal differences), and lactic acid additions were very close. The part I was most interested in comparing was acid additions, pH estimates, and water salt additions.

Just to note I made sure to delete any prior water, pH, and salt additions in Brewfather to get new native calculations. Overall, the recipe rendered very similarly to previous batches…which is what I was hoping for. Just note this is a premium feature and requires a paid prescription. In order to get a comparative sense of the platform’s functionality, I imported one of my trusted recipes via beer XML file. I love that I don’t need additional programs or calculators for any other component of my brew day, although some still do. You can build your recipes by selecting your ingredients from a database and it uses all of the information to formulate just about everything you will need. What I like about Brewfather is its all-in-one nature and general ease of use. Brewfather takes the guesswork out of your brew day by allowing you to dial in your entire process and calculate every part of the process. All of this comes packed with your typical brewing statistics such as ABV, OG, FG, IBU, SRM, water calculations, yeast starter calculations, and much much more. The platform contains both basic and advanced features for all-grain and extract brewers.

I mean i know how it arrives at 4.358 L/KG mathematically, if we choose the first receipe, its simply 13.8 L (protein rest) + 8.56 L (saccarification) = 22.36 L / 5.13 KG total receipe grain = 4.538 yeah but how beersmith decided that i should do my saccarification whit 22.36 L on this one (13.8 + 8.56)? I image i could change this info to be able to have enough space in my mashing process and less water for my fly period but i'd like to understand the logic of the default values first.Brewfather, like BeerSmith or Brewer’s Friend, is an advanced brewing program made for beer recipe design and brew day process. of course the receipe are note the same, fisrt one is a pilsner and the second one is a double ipa, wich actually i don't even have enough space in my 10 gallons mash to realise (if a want to realise a 'protein rest' with it), though beside this fact i just want to understand why and how beersmith comes up with 2 different ratio to grain for the saccarification period? What is the calcul? but here is my question, if you look at my 2 receipes here in images, my grain ratio at the protein rest is the same, i didn't took a picture of this one but both are proposing a 1,878 L/KG as protein rest.īut then what confuse me is that they are proposing different ratios to grain for the saccarification period, why? 4.358 L/KG and the second one 3.983 L/KG.

Though i'm quite a newby with this and i'm still learning a lot. I've been trying to learn via beersmith about the different mash profiles we can do with this and realised that usually the ratios are all the same, i mean if you choose a standard profile as single infusion the saccarifiaction will offer you a 2.608 L/KG wich is a standard which you can modify and have fun with.
